Employee Spotlight—Marty Leonard

Before National Account Manager Marty Leonard began his first day with General Films, it was evident to him that it is our people who make the difference.

From driven innovators creating new product lines, to leaders creating an atmosphere that fosters an environment where employees are happy to come to work every day, Marty knew the individuals driving General Films were the key to the company’s success. As a former film company owner, Marty knows how important it is for the employees to be proud of the company they work for and to be doing a job they enjoy.

When any of our customers have a question, concern or any reason to contact General Films, they always reach one of our dedicated employees. To Marty, that makes a significant difference in setting General Films apart from others in our industry.

“Customers know they are being taken care of and value the relationships they build with our team,” said Marty.

Since 1985, Marty has worked in sales and flexible packaging, but sees something truly different in our team. Our General Films team has more than a few faces who have been with us for 25 year or more, and are very happy about that.

“People don’t stay if they don’t enjoy what they do,” said Marty. “Sooner or later, you will leave unless you are truly happy in what you are doing. The members of the General Films team are some of the friendliest and happiest people I’ve met.”

Marty was initially drawn to General Films by his desire to work for a film manufacturer again, but has found so much more to love and make this a place he wants to stay. The innovative 3- 5- and 9-layer films provide Marty and others on the sales team an edge by offering customers the latest in flexible packaging technologies.

Marty is focused on growing the business throughout the country and spends his time getting to know our current and potential customers, their needs, their industries and how General Films’ products can help them and help their end customers.

Outside of work, Marty and his wife enjoy spending their free time enjoying the outdoors on their boat. Unless they are with one of their three children or three grandchildren, you can find Marty somewhere on a lake all summer long.
